Sun City home serves as `travel hub'


     Anne and Roger Hetrick are celebrating several important dates in the coming months.
      With Valentine's Day on Feb. 14, their 17th wedding anniversary on Feb.18 and Anne Hetrick's birthday in March, the couple is giving itself a memorable present by moving into a 1,374-square-foot Georgetown model at Sun City MacDonald Ranch.
      "We took care of everything at once," Anne Hetrick said. "We love the weather, the scenery and the things to see."
      The Hetricks want to travel and said Southern Nevada provides the ideal location for them.
      "We wanted to travel around and see Arizona and Texas," Anne Hetrick said. "This is a very good hub."
      Combined, the Hetricks taught for nearly 60 years in Delaware before retiring. She still tutors, and said she receives great satisfaction when helping young people.
      The Hetricks selected Sun City MacDonald Ranch for several reasons.
      "We were very impressed with the facilities and everyone we met here, from the sales people to the residents," she said. "We found a home that meets our needs that is above the pollution of the city. We are also looking forward to making a lot of new friends."
      They also like the size of the home, its kitchen, walk-in closet in their bedroom, and yard.
      The age-qualified community, built by Del Webb Corp., features the 36,000-square-foot Desert Willow Community Center, which houses a pro shop and the Willows restaurant.
      Nine floor plans range from 1,020 to 2,014 square feet. Prices range from the high $110,000s to mid-$190,000s.
      The Classics series includes the Roseville and Tucson models. The Roseville is a 1,020-square-foot home with one bedroom, a den and 1 1/2 baths. The Tucson is a 1,130-square-foot home with two bedrooms and two baths.
      The community's Premiers series includes five floor plans, ranging from the 1,261-square-foot Palm Desert to the 1,674-square-foot Huntley model. Each home offers two bedrooms and two baths with several design options.
      The Estates includes the Terravita and Grand models. The Terravita is a 1,814-square-foot home with two bedrooms, two baths, a den, attached living room and kitchen, and covered patio. The 2,014-square-foot Anthem model has two bedrooms, two baths, a den, bonus room, breakfast nook and covered patio.
      To visit, take Lake Mead Drive to Green Valley Parkway and go south.
