Former East Coast residents select new Richmond home

Two-story residence located at Amber Ridge

Heather Villella and Shelby Mercadante moved to Las Vegas from the East Coast to purchase a home of their own. They found one at Amber Ridge, a Richmond American Homes neighborhood in the southern Las Vegas Valley.

"We knew that realistically we could not afford a house where we were, and we have friends that already lived here," Villella said. "There is such a great opportunity here in Las Vegas."

The pair selected the two-story Amherst plan, a 1,195-square-foot residence with two bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths. It is priced from the $240,000s.

"We wanted a home that had equal living space in the bedrooms," Mercadante said. "The Amherst plan allowed for both of us to have a master bedroom."

Additional features include a living room, kitchen, nook and powder room on the main level. The laundry room and space for a tech center are located upstairs, as are the bedrooms.

"Walking into our finished home was very exciting," Villella said. "Being able to pick the furniture to match the options we put into our house and having everything come together was really a great experience."

Four additional two-story floor plans are available, and offer a choice of exterior color schemes.

The 1,384-square-foot Concord includes two bedrooms, a den, family room, kitchen nook and 2 1/2 baths. It is priced from the $250,000s.

At 1,415 square feet, the Pembroke floor plan has three bedrooms, including a master suite with a walk-in closet, dual-sink vanity and an enclosed toilet. The kitchen contains a nook, pantry and built-in desk. The design also provides a living room and 2 1/2 baths. It starts from the $270,000s.

Also priced from the $270,000s is the 1,443-square-foot Hampton model, a two-bedroom, 2 1/2-bath layout complemented by a loft, living room and kitchen nook. The master bedroom features a walk-in closet, dual-sink vanity and an enclosed toilet.

The largest design is the Windam, which measures 1,638 square feet with three bedrooms, a loft or optional fourth bedroom, 2 1/2 baths, a living room, dining room and kitchen pantry. The price starts from the $310,000s.

To reach Amber Ridge, take Interstate 15 to the St. Rose Parkway exit, go east to Amigo Street and head north. Turn west on Abbeyfield Rose, then go north at Blushing Rose Street.

The builder has more than 50 neighborhoods in development throughout the valley.

All sales offices are open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily except Fridays, when they open at noon.

Richmond American is a subsidiary of MDC Holdings.
