Poolside fashion show highlights opening of Siena fitness center
Siena, a guard-gated, Tuscan-themed, age-qualified community in southwestern Summerlin, recently marked the grand opening of its 15,900-square-foot health and fitness center with a daylong celebration that drew more than a thousand homeowners and visitors. "We have been thrilled with the response to Siena's recreational amenities," project manager Paul Smith said. "People can't believe how lavish they are. Because the community is so small, only a very few people will get to use them, take a dip in one of the swimming pools, or play a set of tennis, a game of bocce ball, a round of golf. In addition, the quality of these facilities add to the value of the entire community." A fashion show was presented by residents in the community's swim pavilion, where the Golden Mermaids, a team of synchronized swimmers, also performed in its 25-meter indoor pool. Weekly water aerobics classes are held in the facility. The day's festivities also included demonstrations by a bocce team and "ask the pro" tennis and golf sessions. "There are days in your life that you hope will never end, and this day for me, is one of them," resident Al Limpin said. The fitness center's two-story arched windows overlook an 18-hole championship golf course, outdoor pool and spa. In addition to exercise rooms, the center has private saunas and steam rooms in the locker rooms, and there are four lighted tennis courts and two bocce courts. Summerlin Hospital Medical Center, the community's wellness partner, is offering its Senior Advantage program and also is providing weekly Medicare counseling sessions, nutrition seminars, health screenings and literature at the community. The full-service Destination Salon and Spa offers therapeutic massages, sports therapy, reflexology, and natural body treatments such as mineral or herbal body wraps and aromatherapy. A 12,000-square-foot social center is set up for ceramics, sewing and computer classes, and other activities. Fourteen single-story floor plans are available, ranging from 1,200 to more than 3,000 square feet. Priced from the low $160,000s to about $650,000, one-third of the homes will be built along the golf course. To visit, take Sahara Avenue or Interstate 215 to Town Center Drive and go south, following the signs. The sales office and model homes are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
