MonteLago development process begins

Intrawest Corp., a developer and operator of village-centered resorts across North America, recently made its entrance into the desert Southwest. The company has begun developing MonteLago Village within the 3,850-acre Lake Las Vegas Resort in Henderson. The village is scheduled to open in the fall of 2002.

"Intrawest has experienced phenomenal success," Sherri O'Boyle, director of sales and marketing for the village, said. "With such an impressive track record, MonteLago Village is destined to be the premier place to vacation and live in Southern Nevada. Our response has already been extremely positive. People love the amenities living at MonteLago Village will offer, which are some of the reasons why Intrawest partnered with Lake Las Vegas Resort."

According to O'Boyle, these amenities include a desert setting, a 320-acre lake with 10 miles of shoreline, and golf courses.

The European-style village will offer as many as 800 vacation home condominiums, 125,000 square feet of commercial retail space, and 50,000 square feet of office space. The village will also include a 350-room Ritz-Carlton hotel, European-style casino and spa.

"Intrawest is the ideal developer for MonteLago Village. Their ingenuity and creativity have been proven time and time again," O'Boyle said. "The company's numerous successful developments are famous the world over."

The company has also developed resorts in California, Colorado, Vermont, West Virginia, New Jersey, Florida, Quebec, British Columbia and Ontario.

Intrawest is developing the village in cooperation with The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Co., Cook Inlet Region Inc., and Transcontinental Properties Inc., the developer of Lake Las Vegas Resort.

To visit the community, take Lake Mead Drive, seven miles east of Boulder Highway, to Lake Las Vegas Parkway.
