KB Home lends support to Safe Nest
KB Home has extended its "Feathering the Nest" benefit clothing drive through February. The beneficiary is Safe Nest, a domestic violence shelter and counseling center. During a recent two-week period, the builder collected winter clothing, coats and bedding at five of its neighborhoods in the Las Vegas Valley. In that time, each collection bin was filled with donated items at least three times, according to Leah Bryant, president of KB Home's Las Vegas division. "Since the drive was such a great success, we have decided to keep the collection bins at our communities until the end of February," Bryant said. Lisa Lynn Chapman, a spokesperson for Safe Nest, said, "These donations will help provide relief for the women and children at our shelter." The shelter is undergoing an expansion that is expected to be completed in April. Donations are accepted at the neighborhoods of Iron Mountain Ranch and Goldrush in northwest Las Vegas, Hillsborough in the northeast area, Black Mountain Vistas in the southeast, and Bella Terra in the southwest. The collection binds are located in the sales offices, which are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily except Friday, when they open at 11 a.m.
