Ken Herrera, a local Realtor, felt drawn to the northwestern Las Vegas Valley, so he chose a home within the Providence master-planned community.
"The area where Providence is being constructed is exactly where I wanted to live, and I was pleased to learn that Focus Property Group would be creating a master-planned community in this part of town," he said. "I've been keeping my eye on this part of the city for a long time, and the minute I first heard that a master plan would be built here, I knew I had to buy a home in this community."

Herrera, his wife and daughter are anticipating visits to the community's two American Traditions-themed parks. Wide tree-lined boulevards and home designs will be part of the same theme at Providence.
Herrera first researched the slate of builders participating in the 1,200-acre community and finally chose a Pulte home; Herrera was the first buyer to sign a purchase contract at Providence.
"Getting in early at Pulte's Easton Place was great for us, since we were able to get a lot with a backyard that looks out on to a large park in the future," Herrera said. "Having a park there is like having an extension of our backyard that we can walk to in less than two minutes."
Pulte Homes' Easton Place features the 1713, 1935, and the 2061 floor plans, all two-story designs offering three bedrooms, great rooms and two-car garages.
Herrera purchased the 1935 design, and selected the loft option.
"My wife and I love the plans for the community and how the homes and common areas will reflect the small town America design," he said. "While we love the area, it also was important for us to find a place to live like Providence that looks great while placing a high priority on intelligent, water smart design."
The community also features environmentally friendly measures, such as eliminating turf from the front yards of the homes in favor of desert-friendly landscaping.
It will ultimately be planted with about 4,000 mature desert-adaptable shade and specimen trees, along with countless colorful drought tolerant shrubs and plants. This landscaping will provide a comfortable, shaded community for the residents of Providence, while keeping water conservation a high priority.
The community's Demonstration Garden, located behind the information center, contains examples of the drought-tolerant plants.
Built as a resource for the residents of Providence, the Demonstration Garden will host a series of landscape seminars.
The community's builders are: Pulte, KB Home, Meritage Homes, Pardee Homes, Lennar Everything's Include Homes and Ryland Homes, Toll Brothers, Astoria Homes, Avante Homes, Beazer Homes, Fairview Residential, Kimball Hill Homes, R/S Development, Warmington Homes Nevada and Woodside Homes.
The information center is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
