Finicky buyers find answer in Sun City lifestyle

Weary of Wisconsin's winters, Jeannie and Rick Lant quit their jobs and came to Nevada in 1996. They took their time finding a home, only recently moving to Del Webb's Sun City Anthem in Henderson.

Although they still work, the Lants enjoy the lifestyle Sun City provides.

"Living in Sun City Anthem, we feel like we are on vacation all the time," Jeannie Lant said. "This lifestyle is incredible. We work all day and come home and just relax. It's a very pleasant, peaceful community. You are really buying a lifestyle, not just a house."

The Lants were attracted to the age-qualified community for its location and amenities.

"We like to do things together that allow us to grow as a couple and as individuals. Sun City Anthem provides that. When we do retire, down the road, we will certainly never be bored," Lant said.

The Lants plan to join the water aerobics class, take ballroom dance lessons and try yoga.

"We both enjoy the fitness center now," she said. "Rick plans to take up golf and I want to join the Authors Club. I also can't wait to try the craft and ceramics clubs."

Most resident activities take place in Anthem Center, which offers fitness, social and recreational opportunities for residents as well as Trumpets Restaurant and Lounge, which is open to the public.

The Lants purchased the Patriot model.

"I don't know what I did to deserve living here, but this house is gorgeous," Lant said. "We have a great lot with a wonderful view of the mountains to the west. From here we can watch the sunset every night. We feel extremely lucky."

Homes range from 1,235 to 3,175 square feet. They are priced from the $170,000s to more than $500,000.

Presales have begun for 12 new floor plans. Models for the new designs are under construction.

To visit, take Eastern Avenue south to Anthem Parkway, turn left and proceed to Alexandria Drive, then follow the signs. Models are open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
