COLUMN: Achievers

-- Southern Nevada New Homes Guide, a monthly publication of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, has received several industry awards from Housing Guides of America, a national organization. The publication received Gold Awards for Best Editorial, Carmel Hopkins, editor; Best Redesign, Claire DeJesus, associate publisher; Overall Excellence in Design; Best Color Reproduction; and Best Consumer Promotion. Silver Awards were presented for Best Special Issue, Energy Star homes; Best Reader Service Program; Best Industry Promotion, Energy Star homes; and Best Consumer Advertising. The presentations were made at the International Builders Show held recently in Las Vegas. Last year the magazine garnered eight awards, plus Housing Guide of the Year.

-- Sue Naumann recently became the 2003 president of the Las Vegas Chapter of the Women's Council of Realtors, a professional development organization. Naumann, broker/owner of Tsunami Properties, previously served as vice president of membership and as hospitality chairman on the governing board. She also received the group's VanGuard award for her service in support of the organization. The local association has about 150 members. Nationally, membership totals 14,000.

-- Carina Homes has received the Diamond Builder Award from 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty, the nation's largest home-warranty program. The award honors home-building companies that have contributed to the industry by maintaining the highest construction standards and customer satisfaction ratings while demonstrating financial stability and distinguished design development.
