Sun City Anthem proves ideal match for couple

One visit to Sun City Anthem was all it took for Andrea and Don Berman to decide where they would spend their retirement years.

"When we drove to Sun City Anthem for the first time, we kept saying `oh my gosh' after we went past the waterfalls," Andrea Berman said. "The homes, the area, the recreation center -- in six years of looking at communities, nothing even compared to Sun City Anthem."

Don Berman worked in the scrap metal industry, while Andrea Berman's careers included real estate sales and market research. Don Berman retired on a Friday, and they were in their new home at the age-qualified community by Monday. That was just six weeks ago.

"We had a lot of people over for coffee and dessert after meeting people at the orientation," Andrea Berman said. "And we recently had around 70 people for a Hanukkah party at a friend's house who helped organize the event with other new friends."

The Bermans chose the Monroe plan, a 1,596-square-foot home with two bedrooms and two baths.

"Our home is perfect for entertaining. It's a very open floor plan," Andrea Berman said.

The couple's home also features a great room, utility room, two-car garage, cart area and covered patio.

The community offers many amenities, including the 75,000-square-foot Anthem Center. The facility provides fitness, social, club and dining opportunities.

Community and Clark County residents receive special rates and tee times at the community's first golf course, The Revere. A second course is under construction and expected to open in fall 2001. The community's first driving range is expected to open in late January.

Buyers can choose from 15 floor plans, ranging from 1,080 to 3,009 square feet and more through the developer's Gold Key program. Homes are priced from the high $130,000s to more than $500,000.

To visit, take Eastern Avenue south, two miles past St. Rose Parkway. Models are open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Sun City Anthem is part of the 5,000-acre Anthem master-planned community, which is located in the hills of southern Henderson. It is one of three Sun City properties in Nevada.
