Lynbrook celebrates growth

SPECIAL TO REAL ESTATE

Lynbrook, a planned community in northwest Las Vegas, is celebrating a year of growth and development. Late last year, it was comprised of 275 acres of leveled sand surrounded by walls. Today, Lynbrook has more than 250 families, many of whom have moved in or are preparing to do so.

During first-quarter 2000, Beazer Homes became the first of Lynbrook's 10 participating builders to open model homes. Southwest Homes and Desert Wind Homes followed with presales in their Pebblecreek and Millstream neighborhoods.

As the street landscaping progressed and the monuments were installed, Lynbrook came together as a community during the second quarter. During this time, the first families moved into Pebblecreek and models opened at Millstream, American Premiere Homes' Cobblestone Court, Pulte Homes' Mill Creek and Developers of Nevada's Carmel Hills. Willow Brook, by RL Homes, began presales and John Laing Homes joined the community following Lynbrook's grand opening. The celebration was held in May among three of Lynbrook's four parks. The event included entertainment, refreshments and a demonstration by the Las Vegas Fire Department.

"The grand opening celebration showcased what the Lynbrook philosophy is all about," said Kirk Brynjulson, owner and president of Kirkland Development. "It's a place where neighbors have a chance to get acquainted and celebrate their community.

"The areas surrounding Lynbrook provide breathtaking views of the mountains, while the parks and landscaping around the homes create a special charm within the community."

One of four monuments -- a waterwheel, gazebo, footbridge or wishing well -- highlights each of the parks, which also feature waterfalls and pine and willow trees.

The summer months saw the opening of models at Kimball Hill's Cottages and the addition of D.R. Horton's Quintessence neighborhood. Gates were installed at each of the community's entries and more families moved in.

In October, Lynbrook hosted its first Fall Festival where live bands performed and children decorated pumpkins for Halloween.

As 2000 ends, Lynbrook features more than 30 model homes and more than 45 floor plans. Homes range from 1,024 to 4,000 square feet and are priced from the $110,000s to the $300,000s.
