Anthem park takes shape

Del Webb Corp. is partnering with the city of Henderson to develop Anthem Hills Park, which is under construction in the Anthem master-planned community.

Scheduled to open in fall 2002, the park will include soccer, baseball and softball fields; a playground; roller hockey rink; and basketball and volleyball courts. A "natural resources" trail is also planned as is a swimming pool, jogging trail and lawns.

"The skateboard park will be the largest in Southern Nevada," said Bill Spelts, chairman of the Henderson Parks and Recreation Board. "This is a tremendous facility."

The developer has donated $6.7 million to build the park, which is located at 2256 Reunion Drive.

"This park will serve the people of Anthem and all of Henderson. Residents in the family of Anthem communities are eagerly looking forward to the completion of this park. There will be something for everyone to enjoy," sales and marketing executive Steve O'Connor said.
