Celebration: Let's Party

Sun City Anthem is welcoming the new year in style, and inviting the public to enjoy a New Year's Eve party or a New Year's Day brunch at the community in Henderson.

The New Year's Eve event will be held in Buckman's Tavern at The Revere at Anthem Golf Club, where floor-to-ceiling windows will provide guests with views of the Las Vegas Valley. The party promises to be a gala celebration, according to Ellen Marconi, food and beverage director.

"We are serving a seven-course gourmet meal," Marconi said. "There will be wine pairings with each course, followed by live entertainment and dancing. Not only is the view and interior of the restaurant beautiful, the food rivals any signature-chef restaurant in the city."

Executive Chef Michael Perkins will prepare hot and cold hors d'oeuvres, wild mushroom ragout, salad, seared Atlantic sea scallops, caviar, seasonal berries, char-grilled tenderloin steak and an espresso cheesecake.

The event starts at 7 p.m. and dinner will be served at 8. The cost is $150 per person. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 614-5858.

The new 23,000-square-foot clubhouse is located at 2600 Hampton Road. To get there, take Eastern Avenue south, two miles past St. Rose Parkway, to Anthem Parkway. Proceed to Hampton Road and turn right.

The New Year's Day Brunch starts at noon at Trumpets Restaurant and Lounge, which is located in Anthem Center.

Guests will be presented with domestic and imported cheeses; an oyster bar; assorted salads; seasonal and fresh fruit; smoked salmon, trout and whitefish; along with assorted pastries, breads, omelettes and lunch fare.

The price per person is $18.95 for adults, $12.95 for children 6 to 10, and free for children under 6. Champagne will be available at an additional cost.

Anthem Center is a recreation facility offering fitness and social opportunities for residents of Sun City Anthem, a community for people age 55 and older. Nineteen floor plans are available, ranging from 1,080 to 3,009 square feet and more through the Gold Key program. Homes are priced from the high $130,000s to more than $500,000.

The model village can be reached by taking Eastern Avenue south, two miles past St. Rose Parkway, and following the signs. The homes are open daily from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Sun City Anthem is part of Del Webb Corp.'s 5,000-acre Anthem master-planned community, which is also home to Anthem Country Club, a guard-gated community for all ages; and Coventry Homes at Anthem, which has single-family homes for all ages.
