Red Rock Country Club members embark on shopping spree
Residents and members of Red Rock Country Club were treated recently to a private shopping event at a major toy store on the Strip. At 8 a.m. on Dec. 9, the eager shoppers arrived at the three-story store to enjoy a continental breakfast and a leisurely shopping experience. Among those attending were Frank and Tammy Gatski, who were shopping for their children, 5-year-old McKenna and 2-year-old Grant. "This is great to be able to shop without all of the crowds," Tammy Gatski said. Another shopper, Marcy Platt, was searching for holiday gifts for her 3-year-old daughter, Meghan. "What a fun opportunity for members to have (the store) to ourselves," she said. Resident and member activities are key to the lifestyle at Red Rock Country Club in Summerlin. At buildout, the community will comprise about 1,100 homes plus two Arnold Palmer-designed golf courses. Central to the community's social activities will be the 44,000-square-foot main clubhouse, which is scheduled to open in January. It will provide views of the Las Vegas Valley and the Red Rock National Conservation Area. Clubhouse amenities will include a pro shop, locker rooms, a steam room, lounge and media center. Casual and fine dining will also be available. An 8,000-square-foot sports club offers saunas, steam rooms, an aerobics studio, massage therapy rooms, locker rooms and a supervised play area. An aquatic center with several pools, an outdoor grill and a splash and-spray minipark is located adjacent to the club. Additional amenities include nine hard-surface tennis courts, including a stadium court and five lighted courts. The community features two gatehouses, which are manned 24 hours a day. Single- and two-story homes are available, ranging from 2,100 to more than 8,000 square feet with as many as six bedrooms and a four-car garage. Prices start from the low $300,000s to more than $2 million. To tour the community's 15 model homes, take Sahara Avenue west, past Town Center Drive, and follow the signs. Or, take Interstate 215 to the Sahara Avenue exit and follow the signs. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. The developer, Sunrise Colony Co., is also developing Siena, an age-qualified community in Summerlin.
