Ex-Chicagoans select Green Valley Ranch

When former Chicagoans Angie and David Cavalieri relocated to Southern Nevada, they searched for the ideal home and neighborhood for their family. Upon considering scores of new and resale homes throughout the valley, they found the right combination of features at Green Valley Ranch in Henderson.

"We really did our homework -- touring as many as 35 homes in a single day," Angie Cavalieri said.

"Ultimately, we found that Green Valley Ranch offered the home and lifestyle we wanted. We like the design of this community, including the parks, trails and open space areas, which are all very well maintained. Also, schools, shopping and other services are close by, making this a very convenient location for our family."

The Cavalieris have become involved in a number of community activities. Angie Cavalieri is a cub scout leader, and her husband is a soccer coach. Their 10-year-old son, Trevor, is involved in such activities as sports, scouting and singing in church choir.

"We also enjoy the various community activities that take place in the Green Valley area," Angie Cavalieri said.

"We can easily walk to two different city parks, which provide a nice place to socialize with other Green Valley Ranch homeowners. Since moving here, we have made lots of new friends and we are enjoying the lifestyle."

Developed by American Nevada Corp., the community offers homes priced from the $160,000s. Neighborhoods open for sales are Castle Rock Estates and Mystic Bay by Richmond American Homes; Meritage by Capital Pacific Homes; and Carriage Lane by U.S. Home.

The community features city parks, neighborhood parks and a network of trails with shaded pavilions and rest areas.

Among the amenities is the 38-acre Henderson Promenade and Special Events Plaza. The complex will include a 7,500-seat amphitheater; 70,000-square-foot community center with an aquatic center, to be completed in late 2001; a police substation, which was completed in December 1999; and a public library to be built at a later date.

The community is located south of Interstate 215, between Pecos Road and Arroyo Grande Drive. To visit, take Interstate 215 to Green Valley Parkway, exit south to the community.
