Sun City Anthem fit for jet set
Carina Jendreas, an airlines employee, and her husband, Jerry, an accounting and finance consultant, have lived in Henderson for 10 years, but selected a new home at Sun City Anthem because they wanted a smaller home that would be easier to maintain when they travel. The couple has visited the Caribbean, Tahiti and Europe, and most recently South America. "We wanted to downsize to a smaller home so we don't have to worry about lawn or pool maintenance," she said. "... We feel very secure here. That's a real plus." When not on the road, the Jendreases have found plenty to keep them busy. They use the fitness center, indoor swimming pool, exercise equipment and spa. Carina also enjoys the Canasta Club, ceramics and crafts classes. The age-qualified community offers 19 models, ranging from 1,080 to 3,009 square feet and more through its Gold Key program. Homes are priced from the high $130,000s to more than $500,000. The Jendreases selected an Independence model, one that was already under construction. "All the options we wanted were already here," Jendreas said. Those options included upgraded cabinets, an extended covered patio, energy-saving devices, and bay windows in the den and owner bedroom. They plan to add a casita as well. The Independence, part of the Premier series of floor plans, comes with two bedrooms, a den and covered patio. It measures 1,878 square feet. The community offers a one-stop-shop approach with on-site services including a design center and mortgage company. "They were fantastic from the very beginning," Jendreas said. Anthem Center, a 75,000-square-foot facility, offers fitness, social and recreational opportunities for residents, as well as Trumpets Restaurant and Lounge, which is open to the public. The Revere at Anthem offers two 18-hole championship golf courses. To visit, take Eastern Avenue south, two miles past St. Rose Parkway, and follow the signs. The models and sales center are open daily from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
