Sun City Anthem hosts Green Valley band

Sun City Anthem recently hosted the Green Valley High School Symphonic Band for a holiday concert. The 2001 Grammy award-winning symphony performed holiday songs including "God Rest Ye, Merry Gentlemen" and "A Christmas Celebration."

The Henderson age-qualified community's homeowners association provided a musical celebration for residents and a nearly $400 contribution to the band through ticket sales.

"The setting was perfect for their performance," said Jennifer Samuelson, activities assistant for the association. "There was a light snow falling and it was a perfect winter evening."

Samuelson said the music fit the situation perfectly.

"We really enjoyed it," said resident Ginny Ballew, who attended with her husband, Richard.

"We enjoy Christmas music and had seen a program at Valley View Recreation Center in which Green Valley High School performed.

"We thought the program was fabulous and were happy to attend, as we truly believe in supporting the arts and schools."

The group performed at Anthem Center, a 75,000-square-foot recreational facility.

The center is host to many fitness, social and recreational opportunities, in addition to Trumpets Restaurant and Lounge, which is open to the public.

The Del Webb Corp. community offers 19 models, ranging from 1,080 to 3,009 square feet and more through its Gold Key program.

Homes are priced from the high $130,000s to more than $500,000.

To visit, take Eastern Avenue south, two miles past St. Rose Parkway, to Anthem Parkway and follow the signs.

The sales office and model-home village are open daily from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
