The Villages at Southern Highlands hits 2,000

The developers of The Villages at Southern Highlands have reported brisk sales. The southwestern valley community has more than 1,100 residents and recently recorded its 2,000th sale.

The community offers buyers more than 75 models built by 14 builders. The homes are priced from the low $100,000s to the $400,000s.

Active builders are American West Homes, Beazer Homes, D.R. Horton Homes, Greystone Homes, John Laing Homes, KB Home, Kimball Hill Homes, Pacific Southwest Development, Pulte Homes, Southwest Homes, Trophy Homes, U.S. Home, William Lyon Homes and Woodside Homes.

The community's first park, the Goett Family Park, is under construction and is set to open before the end of the year. The 5-acre park will contain a playground, basketball and sand volleyball courts, a soccer field, a shade structure with picnic tables, a barbecue area, and benches.

Also under construction is the 9-acre Linear Park Paseo. This green space will contain a tree-lined path for walking, biking and jogging, and is part of a trail system planned to link neighborhoods and other amenities throughout the community.

The Southern Highlands master plan calls for more than 50 acres of parks.

To visit, take Interstate 15 south to the Lake Mead Drive exit and head west. Models are open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
