Red Rock takes shape

Nestled against the backdrop of Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, Red Rock Country Club continues to take shape in Summerlin.

"Red Rock Country Club has established itself as one of the valley's premier country club communities," Kevin Stall, vice president of sales, said. "The location, amenities and selection of homes are all cited as reasons buyers have chosen Red Rock Country Club, and the amenities and homes are getting even better in 2002."

In early 2002, expansion of the community's fitness center is planned, which will more than double the size of the exercise room.

In addition, golf cart paths are being installed throughout the two 18-hole golf courses and two new models are anticipated to debut in 2002.

Sunrise Colony Co. broke ground on the 738-acre, guard-gated community in early 1998, with its first residents moving into their homes in late 1999. According to Stall, more than 600 homes, or about half of the planned homes, have been sold.

The community's two Arnold Palmer golf courses are surrounded by a series of neighborhoods, where homes are priced from the $350,000s to more than $2 million. Four collections are featured -- the Acacia, Mesquite, Ocotillo and Palo Verde -- and offer designs measuring from 2,155 to 5,300 square feet. Custom-home sites are also offered within The Estates section of the community.

Buyers may utilize a design studio and participate in the Sunsation program, which allows for a variety of customized options including structural changes; room configurations and additions; custom swimming pools; and upgraded landscaping, patio and lighting designs.

"We have a lot of families who choose homes in the Mesquite Collection because of the spaciousness of the plans and amenities, including family rooms and large kitchen designs," Stall said.

The three floor plans in the Mesquite Collection range from 3,592 to 4,295 square feet and feature Spanish Colonial, Italianate and Americana styles. Prices start from the $500,000s.

Other amenities include a sports club, which features views of the valley, health and fitness equipment, saunas, steam rooms, an aerobics studio, locker rooms, and a supervised children's play center.

A 44,000-square-foot main clubhouse with a golf pro shop, banquet facilities, a boardroom and two dining rooms is also available.

A resort-style aquatic center offers several pools, a spa, splash-and-spray mini-park and outdoor grill, while a tennis center features a stadium court and nine lighted hard-surface courts.

To visit, take Sahara Avenue west past Town Center Drive and follow the signs. Or, take Interstate 215 to Sahara and travel west. Models are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

Sunrise Colony is also developing Siena, an age-qualified community in Summerlin.
