Nuclear exec reacts warmly to Del Webb's Sun City Anthem

Bob Brill, a former executive with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and his wife, Marilyn, considered retirement communities in other parts of the country, but decided Del Webb Corp.'s Sun City Anthem in Henderson was the perfect location for them.

"Since we were living in Virginia, we checked out locations in North Carolina and Florida," Marilyn Brill said. "Some friends had vacationed in Las Vegas and told us about Sun City Anthem. We came out to celebrate my birthday, and once we saw the community, we were sold."

The Brills wanted the Concord model, and were fortunate to find an inventory home already under construction.

"We selected the options such as flooring, appliances and so on. Del Webb's design center was extremely helpful and professional," she said. "I especially love the big kitchen in the Concord model."

The amenities have also impressed the couple.

"The wellness program they have at the fitness center is fantastic," Bob Brill said. "I use the recreation center all the time, like the indoor swimming pool, weight and work out equipment, the clubs and sports leagues. I'm active in the Computer Club, and will serve as director of education this quarter. I never dreamed I'd be playing bocce ball. I'm very pleased with this lifestyle."

The hub of activity is the Anthem Center, a 75,000-square-foot facility with fitness, social and recreational opportunities for residents, as well as Trumpets Restaurant and Lounge, which is open to the public.

There are two 18-hole championship golf courses.

In addition to the bridge club, bunco group, gourmet club, canasta, golf and bocce, the Brills have enjoyed meeting their neighbors.

"Everyone is just great," Brill said. "Our neighbors are wonderful. This is an ideal place for us."

Nineteen models are featured at the age-qualified community. The designs range from 1,080 to 3,009 square feet and more through the community's Gold Key program.

Prices range from the high $130,000s to more than $500,000. The builder is offering incentives and discounts to buyers who purchase before year-end if paying in cash or if financed through Del Webb Mortgage.

To tour the model complex, take Eastern Avenue south, two miles past St. Rose Parkway. The sales office is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
