Standard Pacific Homes' Mountain Shadows is the first of four North Las Vegas neighborhoods the builder has planned for the city.
The new neighborhood opened its first models this week. Home buyers can tour three model homes with Tuscan, island and modern interior design themes.

The gated property features two-story homes and offers four floor plans.
The Sunrise has a 3,061-square-foot and a 3,126-square-foot version, each with three or four bedrooms, 21/2 to 31/2 baths and a two-car garage.
The 3,169-square-foot Charleston plan has four to five bedrooms, 31/2 baths and a two- or three-car garage.
The Summit offers four to six bedrooms, 31/2 to 41/2 baths, a two- or three-car garage in 3,459 square feet.
Prices start in the low $400,000s.
According to community manager Donna Petty, one aspect of the models that her guests especially like is the focus on standard features. The Charleston model showcases what each home in the gated community offers.
"When visitors tour the first two models, they share their surprise when the see items in the second model that they thought were upgrades in the first," Petty said. "They are very surprised to learn that an upgrade they saw at another community is part of the standard home design."
Some standard features include second-floor laundry rooms, provincial style interior doors, maple cabinets and solid slab granite countertops with bull nose edges.
Kitchens have direct vents, the master baths feature frameless shower enclosures and each home contains Milguard windows.
Most rooms in Mountain Shadows' homes are also prewired for ceiling fans, cable TV, phones and the Internet. Each plan is Energy Star rated with low-e windows and Lennex SEER 13 air conditioning units.
The community features a central park with two playground structures, a covered picnic area and a grassy field. Many of the 77 homes back up to the park, enabling families to watch their children play from their kitchens or backyards, according to Petty.
The community is near Aliante, a North Las Vegas master-planned community, which features parks, trails, schools shopping areas and restaurants.
The three other Standard Pacific Homes communities are: Desert Ridge, The Villages and Morning Ridge, which opened sales office in September, and Skyline at Paradise Hills, which is expected to open for sales during the spring.
Mountain Shadows is located at the intersection of Commerce Street and Azure Avenue. For more, 702-445-0788, or visit www.standardpacifichomes.com.
