Buyers invest in Sun City Anthem
Although it's been a difficult year for the investment industry, Holli Lufgren and her husband, Larry Meyer, said they cashed in on the deal of a lifetime when they purchased a home at Sun City Anthem, Del Webb's age-qualified community in Henderson. "This is such a compelling place to live," Meyer said. "We are having so much fun. There is just so much to do at Sun City Anthem." The pair, who moved to Nevada from Seattle about a year ago, work for an investment management firm. "We had originally planned to be here for just six weeks and then travel back and forth to Seattle," Meyer said. "But we never went back to the firm. We are networked from here and only go to Seattle infrequently to meet personally with clients. It's a trying time in the investment market, but we both enjoy the work." Because they still work full-time, Meyer and Lufgren said they don't have as much time to play as they would like. "We joined the hiking club and all of a sudden had 50 close friends. This place is unbelievable; it's like being in college, only with money," he said. Lufgren and Meyer also use the fitness center, play bocce and participate in the couples' golf league. Their home overlooks the third fairway of one of the community's two 18-hole golf courses. Nineteen floor plans are available, ranging from 1,080 to 3,009 square feet. Homes are priced from the high $140,000s to more than $500,000. Anthem Center is a hub of activities for residents, and features a fitness center with exercise equipment, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, walking tracks and wellness programs. The center also houses Trumpets Restaurant and Lounge, which is open to the public. To tour the model village, take Eastern Avenue south, two miles past St. Rose Parkway, turn left on Anthem Parkway and then turn right on Alexandria Drive. The sales office is open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
