Duo enjoy Sun City Anthem's activities

Margaret and Roger Ostendorf ended their search for an age-qualified community when they found Sun City Anthem in Henderson.

"We looked at other communities and liked this one the best," Roger Ostendorf said. "There is so much to do, and the people are friendly. If you can't make friends here, you can't make friends anywhere."

After retiring, the Dallas couple traveled the world, visiting 49 countries in Europe and South America, as well as Russia, New Zealand and Canada.

"The most impressive to us was Israel. There's a real sense of history," he said.

Now, they are immersed in activities at their new community. Both play bocce and bunco and do water aerobics three times a week.

Roger Ostendorf participates in a community service club, which helps fellow residents with home maintenance.

Margaret Ostendorf is in the women's club.

"I love it here. There are so many activities and programs to participate in and people are so friendly. It's a wonderful, fun place to live," she said.

They selected a Virginia model, which measures 1,613 square feet with three bedrooms, two baths, a great room, two-car garage and optional casita.

They enjoy using Anthem Center, where there are special events, club meetings and a fitness center, as well as Trumpets Restaurant and Lounge, which is open to the public.

Available homes measure from 1,496 to 3,175 square feet. Prices start from the mid-$200,000 to more than $500,000.

To visit, take Eastern Avenue south, two miles past St. Rose Parkway, turn left on Anthem Parkway and follow the signs. The models and sales office are open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
