Tierra Mesa draws first-time home buyers

Richmond American Homes' Tierra Mesa has attracted many first-time home buyers, including Jacob and Toshia McIntyre. The couple purchased the Buena Vista floor plan at the northeastern valley neighborhood.

"The prices at this community were unbelievably affordable for the amount of square footage, quality and uniqueness of the design. Richmond has made buying a first-rate home a dream come true for families like us just starting out," Jacob McIntyre said.

The McIntyres' home measures 1,146 square feet with two upstairs bedrooms and two baths. The master suite features a Roman tub, while the second bedroom includes a walk-in closet. A downstairs powder room is optional.

The neighborhood opened for sales last March, according to sales manager Nicole Moore.

"We have already sold over half of the home sites available," Moore said. "Our first-time buyers are finding Tierra Mesa to be an excellent alternative to apartment living. Many of their monthly payments for their new homes are less expensive than what they were paying in rent, plus they are reaping all the benefits of homeownership."

Two floor plans are available in addition to the Buena Vista, which is priced from the $110,000s.

The single-story Alta Vista model features one bedroom and one bath in 555 square feet. It has a great room and a kitchen with a nook. It is priced from the $90,000s.

The largest plan is the Chula Vista, a two-story design measuring 1,308 square feet. It provides three bedrooms and two baths upstairs. It, too, contains a great room and a kitchen with a nook. There is also a first-floor tech area that can be used as a home office or converted into a powder room. The design is priced from the $130,000s.

A one-car garage is standard with each home.

Richmond American is building 19 neighborhoods valleywide. All sales offices are open from 10 a.m. 5 p.m. daily except Monday and Friday, when they open at noon.
