Aliante Golf Club opened for public play in North Las Vegas yesterday with 18 holes of championship golf that promise an enjoyable experience for players of all skill levels, according to course architect Gary Panks, founder of Gary Panks Associates. The course is located within the Aliante master-planned community, a development of North Valley Enterprises. "Aliante is a strong challenge that incorporates all the best design elements found in outstanding golf courses," Panks said. "We designed a well-balanced golf course with an appealing landscape and an eye-catching arroyo, all of which have a positive impact on the look and feel of the golf course." Highlights include water features and strategic use of trees such as pear and purple locust. Panks said the meandering arroyo, which comes into play on 14 holes, is designed to create an elevated feel, while providing interesting contours and angles. The par-72, daily-fee course extends more than 7,000 yards. Complementing the course is a clubhouse with a pro shop, grill, bar and special event area with views of the course and mountains. A practice facility features a driving range, putting and chipping greens, and a bunker. The club, built by Wadsworth Golf Construction Co., is managed by OB Sports Golf Management. "Aliante Golf Club is an outstanding course that rivals the finest in Southern Nevada," said Kris Strauss, director of sales and marketing. "I think it's a real credit to North Valley Enterprises that they were able to have the golf course, clubhouse and practice facilities all completed in conjunction with the grand opening. Their dedication and expertise ensured that our first golfers were able to enjoy the total Aliante Golf Club experience." Dan Naef, senior vice president of North Valley Enterprises, said the completion of the course represents another milestone in the development of Aliante. "We're proud to bring this premier golf facility to residents of the north valley and the entire Southern Nevada community," he said. "This outstanding amenity will serve as a beautiful centerpiece for Aliante. We invite golfers of all levels of play to come out and be among the first to enjoy this fabulous new facility." Residents of North Las Vegas receive preferred rates and advance tee times year-round. At 1,905 acres, Aliante is comprised of two villages and about 100 acres of commercial development. Builders in the primary village are D.R. Horton, KB Home, Pardee Homes and Pulte Homes. Del Webb is developing Sun City Aliante, an age-qualified village. The community will comprise about 7,500 homes at buildout. One-fourth of the acreage is dedicated to recreational and public purposes, including the golf course, the 20-acre Nature Discovery Park, two additional parks, 24 miles of concrete trails and linear parks, and an arroyo. A 40-acre hotel with gaming has been proposed. Shopping centers and office parks are also planned. To visit, take U.S. Highway 95 to Centennial Parkway, exit east to Sky Pointe Drive and turn right. Turn right at Frontage Road, then left onto Interstate 215. Exit at Aliante Parkway and go south to the primary village or north to Sun City. The information office is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. North Valley Enterprises is an affiliate of American Nevada Co. and Del Webb Communities Inc.
