DragonRidge membership policy changes temporarily

For a limited time, equity golf members of DragonRidge Golf and Country Club will not be required to pay monthly dues.

This policy will be in effect until construction of the permanent clubhouse is completed in late 2001. Meantime, members will still be able to enjoy the full privileges of membership including unlimited access to the golf course and practice range.

"We want to convey what a special privilege membership in DragonRidge is and will continue to be," Rich MacDonald, developer of DragonRidge and its surrounding custom-home community of MacDonald Highlands, said.

"As we build our membership base of MacDonald Highlands' residents and nonresidents, we are accepting nonmember play, and we have received a tremendous response from it. However, we also want our members to know that this is their club, now and in the future, and that's why we've eliminated monthly dues until the clubhouse is ready."

The temporary policy may be most appealing to new custom-lot buyers in the neighborhoods of Montrose, Lairmont and Lochinver Ridge.

"Through Dec. 31 of this year, custom lots in these neighborhoods include with their purchase an equity golf membership in DragonRidge, meaning buyers in these neighborhoods will essentially get a year of the best golf Southern Nevada has to offer for free," MacDonald said.

Most of the community's custom lots outside of Montrose, Lairmont and Lochinver Ridge come with an equity social membership in DragonRidge. Equity social members also do not have to pay monthly dues until the clubhouse is complete.

The 30,000-square-foot permanent clubhouse will include a golf shop, an exercise facility, a swimming pool, tennis courts and three dining rooms. A temporary clubhouse is open.

"When we began planning MacDonald Highlands, we wanted to create the most unique luxury community in the Las Vegas Valley, and we felt we had to have an exceptional golf and country club as the focal point," MacDonald said.

"We have a fantastic golf course and country club and we want our residents, as well as others, to be a part of it."

MacDonald Highlands is planned to include 17 neighborhoods and about 560 homes.

Home sites are available with city, mountain and golf course views and are priced from $159,000 to more than $2 million.

Planned amenities include three parks encompassing about 10 acres with tennis, basketball and volleyball courts; play areas; and picnic facilities. A five-mile trail system also is planned.

The community is located in Henderson. To visit, take Interstate 215 to Valle Verde Drive, turn south and proceed to Horizon Ridge Parkway.

Office hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
