New Home Finding Center opens in Summerlin

SPECIAL TO REAL ESTATE

Summerlin officials recently unveiled a new Home Finding Center designed to acquaint potential home buyers with all that the master-planned community offers. And apparently, it was no easy task, according to Stew Gibbons, an executive at The Howard Hughes Corp., the developer.

"That's why we've used an abundance of photos and three-dimensional objects to tell the story. The goal is to help visitors feel the richness and depth of life in Summerlin," Gibbons said.

The center features three-dimensional kiosks that depict the community's lifestyle amenities such as parks, clubs, sports, wellness, learning and the arts. One wall is used exclusively for photos that depict the community's social aspects such as clubs, recreation and performing arts. The decor also includes a winding, cobblestone-like sidewalk; green carpet to imitate grass; and light fixtures shaped like clouds.

The center is the third to open in the community since development started in the early 1990s. It replaces the two previous centers and is located at the northeast corner of Sahara Avenue and Town Center Drive, just east of the Las Vegas Beltway interchange at Sahara.

"Nearly 200,000 people have been through one of our community's two home finding centers over the last decade," Gibbons said. "Another 200,000-plus people will undoubtedly visit Summerlin's Home Finding Center over the next decade. That's why we have pulled out all the stops to use the center as a showcase for the unparalleled lifestyle Summerlin affords families of all sizes, ages and incomes."

The center features a technology table that allows prospective home buyers to narrow their search for a home within the community.

"After selecting a variety of criteria, from price, square footage and style to number of bedrooms and location, home shoppers will receive a list of Summerlin neighborhoods and homes that fit their needs. With nearly 150 model homes in 40 neighborhoods currently available in Summerlin, this process is designed to make finding a home even easier."

Office hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

Summerlin aligns the western edge of the Las Vegas Valley and comprises a series of villages, each with its own major park or golf course.

There are eight golf courses, 12 major parks, more than 45 neighborhood parks, and a trail system. The community is also home to 16 schools, shopping centers, medical centers, cultural facilities and business parks.

Single-family homes, townhomes and condominiums are priced from $90,000 to more than $700,000. Custom lots from one-quarter acre to one-half acre are priced from $90,000 to more than $1 million.
