Sunrise Colony supports toy drive

Residents and employees of the Siena and Red Rock Country Club communities in Summerlin are collecting new toys for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve's Toys for Tots program.

Both properties are being developed by Sunrise Colony Co.

"We are all proud to be a part of this important holiday effort by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve to collect gifts for needy children throughout the Las Vegas Valley," said Paul Smith, senior vice president and project manager at Siena. "Last holiday season, Siena residents and employees joined together to collect hundreds of toys ranging from new bicycles to dolls and stuffed animals, and we hope to collect even more toys this year with the added participation of Red Rock Country Club."

Siena has two drop-off sites: one in the fitness center and another in the social center. The country club has a collection barrel in the main clubhouse.

"We've asked all attendees of our annual children's holiday party on Dec. 9 to donate one new, unwrapped toy as admission, which will be donated to the program," said Thomas Gilbertson, Red Rock Country Club general manager.

Toys in the annual program are distributed to local children through several nonprofit agencies, including HELP of Southern Nevada, Catholic Charities and the Salvation Army.

Homes at the Siena age-qualified community are priced from the $170,000s to the $600,000s. Fourteen single-story floor plans are featured in five Italian-themed collections, ranging from 1,200 to 3,000 square feet. Each plan offers three exterior designs and offer such options as courtyard fireplaces and casitas. A design studio is available to assist buyers.

One-third of the guard-gated community's 1,900 homes will be built along a golf course, which is open on a daily-fee basis to the public. Residents receive preferred rates and tee times.

A 13,500-square-foot golf clubhouse under construction will feature a pro shop, locker rooms and casual dining. Completion is scheduled for mid-2002.

Another amenity is a 15,900-square-foot fitness center with an indoor swim pavilion, spa, outdoor pool, lighted tennis and bocce courts, exercise equipment, and private saunas and steam rooms.

A social center houses a computer lab, billiard and card rooms, and a variety of classes. There is a full-time activities manager.

To visit, take Sahara Avenue or Interstate 215 to Town Center Drive and go south to Siena Monte Avenue.

Red Rock Country Club homes are priced from the $350,000s to more than $2 million. Four collections are featured, with floor plans measuring from 2,100 to 5,300 square feet.

Amenities are geared toward all ages and include golf, tennis and swimming. The guard-gated country club is also patrolled by security.

To visit the country club, take Sahara Avenue west, past Town Center Drive, and follow the signs. Or, take Interstate 215 to Sahara.

The sales offices and model homes are open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
