MacDonald Highlands showcases luxury homes

Five luxury homes will be showcased today at MacDonald Highlands, a hillside community in Henderson.

Scheduled from 1 to 4 p.m., an open house will feature a series of custom residences in the community's Lochmere and Highlands neighborhoods. They measure from 4,518 to 5,274 square feet and are priced from $1,400,000 to $1,795,000.

"This is a wonderful opportunity for the public to stop by and view these elegant new homes," said Rich MacDonald, president of MacDonald Cos., developer of MacDonald Highlands. "Each of these homes features unique architecture and design that incorporate the community's fantastic views, and each helps set the high standard that MacDonald Highlands homes uphold."

The Highlands neighborhood has both hillside and flat custom lots. Since the community's last open house in October, one of its 6,000-square-foot listings sold.

Highlands will also be the neighborhood site of the 2002 Street of Dreams luxury housing tour.

"This is a very exciting time for us here at MacDonald Highlands," MacDonald said. "The homes of Street of Dreams will be a great addition to our community. There are some wonderful designs with many fascinating interpretations of our design guidelines."

One of the featured homes in the Lochmere neighborhood backs to the fairway of the par-4 sixth hole of DragonRidge Golf Club, with the course's palm tree-lined lake and waterfall nestled in between.

The course was designed by Jay Morrish and David Druzisky and incorporates the slopes and arroyos of the nearby mountains.

A clubhouse, which is still in the planning stages, will feature a golf shop, exercise facility, swimming pool, dining room, and grill and lounge. A temporary clubhouse is currently open, with tee times available.

"When people visit Lochmere, the first things they see are the green golf course and serene lake with the mountains in the background," MacDonald said. "As they become more familiar with the plans for MacDonald Highlands, they see how close these home sites will be to one of the community's three private parks, which will feature tennis, volleyball and basketball courts, among other amenities."

Upon buildout, the community will feature about 560 residences in 17 neighborhoods built around the golf club. Custom-home sites are available with city, mountain and golf course views and measure from one-third acre to more than 2 acres. The lots are priced from $160,000 to more than $2 million.

To visit, take Interstate 215 to Valle Verde Drive, turn south, and proceed to Horizon Ridge Parkway.

Directions to the open house can be obtained at the guard gate.
