Molasky Group nets approval to build upscale hangar facility at McCarranSPECIAL TO REAL ESTATE
The Molasky Group has received approval from Clark County to build a corporate and private jet hangar facility at McCarran International Airport. The $25 million project was approved by commissioners Nov. 20, and will be built on 10 acres adjacent to the airport. Jet Hangars, a Molasky company, will design, build, and lease or sell the hangars. "Since the tragic events of (Sept. 11, 2001), there has been a resurgence of demand for private aircraft in both the corporate and personal sectors," said Richard Worthington, president of Paradise Development, another Molasky company. "There is currently a shortage of hangar facilities in the valley available to serve the growing business community's needs. "Many of the large resort hotels require corporate jets for their executives and for their high-end customers. We have been approached by some of these people to assist them in accomplishing their needs. We feel this first-class facility will not only fill those unmet needs, but do it in such a way that is currently not offered at McCarran." Randall H. Walker, director of the Clark County Department of Aviation, recommended the project. "This new development will produce the most comprehensive and efficient use of the land left at McCarran International Airport for this type of use, and this project is consistent with the airport's long-term plans and operational goals. Currently there are many multi-million dollar corporate and private aircraft that must continually withstand the desert elements," Walker said. The agreement between Jet Hangars and Clark County is a 40-year ground lease with options that will pave the way for the development of only seven upscale hangars and a central passenger and pilot facility designed to meet new strict security regulations proposed by the Federal Aviation Administration and the Department of Homeland Security. Signature Flight Support Services has been retained to provide fuel, concierge and other services. Construction starts next spring with completion expected one year later.
