Aliante pet adoption event called success
Last weekend's ice cream fest and pet adoption event in Aliante was a huge success, drawing several thousand visitors to the master-planned community. Dozens of abandoned dogs, visiting from the Lied Animal Shelter, went home with new owners, according to Kimiko Haight, community marketing manager. "This is just our second community event at Aliante, and the turnout was far beyond anyone's expectations," Haight said. "Based on what we have seen, Aliante is a community where people enjoy coming outdoors, having fun and getting to know their new neighbors. Considering the number of pet adoptions we've had so far, it's also a community where people are eager to come out to show their support for a worthwhile cause." The combined event was held in the community's 20-acre Nature Discovery Park. All visitors were welcome to enjoy free ice cream, compliments of Anderson Dairy, and children got to play in the park, which includes a dinosaur dig area, prehistoric-themed play equipment and a water-spraying serpent. A face painter and clown added to the fun. North Valley Enterprises, the developer of Aliante, and a local radio station sponsored the day's festivities. At 1,905 acres, Aliante consists of a primary village and an adult village, which will collectively feature as many as 7,500 homes. The participating builders are D.R. Horton, KB Home, Pardee Homes and Pulte Homes. Homes are priced from the $120,000s to the $370,000s. Del Webb is developing the age-qualified Sun City Aliante around an 18-hole, par-72 public golf course. Residences are priced from the $160,000s to the $250,000s. Additional community amenities will include three city parks, 24 miles of concrete trails and linear parks, as well as an arroyo. Two elementary schools and a middle school have been proposed, and a site has been set aside for a fire station. Commercial development is planned to include 60 acres of retail centers and office parks, as well as a 40-acre gaming hotel. To visit, take U.S. Highway 95 to Centennial Parkway, exit east to Sky Pointe Drive and turn right. Turn right at Frontage Road, then left onto Interstate 215. Exit at Aliante Parkway and go south to the primary village or north to Sun City. The information center is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
