Asset Realty joins Henderson's redevelopment effort

Asset Realty & Management has expanded its offices by moving to a new location directly across from its previous site on Water Street in Henderson.

Judy Henkens, owner/broker of the realty firm, said the move was necessitated by the company's continued growth of clients and agents.

"We believe that with this move, we will be better able to accommodate our clients' needs and provide a more sufficient working space for our agents," Henkens said.

Henkens, who also is president of the Downtown Henderson Business Association, said it was "crucial" that the company remain in the Water Street District.

"We are dedicated to helping the redevelopment efforts of the downtown district in Henderson," she said. "As a business owner, there are a number of things you can do to help the movement. However, the first and foremost thing a successful company can do is to remain in the area after and during growth and that is exactly what we are doing."

Retention and expansion of downtown businesses is key to redevelopment, Ned Madonia, redevelopment project coordinator, said.

The redevelopment agency assisted Asset Realty by leasing it space, enabling the firm to remain in the area. The agency also made more than $50,000 in building improvements, according to city representatives.

"The first thing we do is to listen to the needs of our downtown businesses and do what we can to meet their needs," Madonia said. "In the case of Asset Realty, we had a business that needed to expand and the agency had a building that needed to be put back into economic re-use. It really was a symbiotic relationship."

Henkens believes the transaction is a sign of things to come in the area.

"The people involved in the redevelopment process are dedicated to making Water Street and its surrounding areas an attractive place for businesses to locate and patrons to visit. In just the past six months, the progress had been very positive," she said.
