Rhodes Ranch residents find new `birdies'

Residents of Rhodes Ranch have discovered a new meaning for the word "birdie." Two ducks have taken up residence at the lake in the golf course community.

"(I) guess they were attracted by the Rhodes Ranch lifestyle just like the rest of our upscale home buyers," said Tawnya Rosenthal, marketing manager. "Many of the homeowners have adopted them and go out to make sure they are fed and taken care of."

The lake, located in front of the clubhouse's parking lot, attracts a number of small birds.

"It's great to see them because it really adds to the natural lifestyle of our community," Rosenthal said.

Rhodes Ranch features six neighborhoods with homes ranging from 1,260 to 4,886 square feet. Prices start in the mid-$100,000s.

Among the home builders are Rhodes Homes, which is developing The Champions, The Lakes and The Links neighborhoods. Homes at The Links range from 1,260 to 2,130 square feet and are priced from the mid-$100,000s. The Lakes offers three models ranging from 1,678 to 2,893 square feet, which are priced from the high $100,000s. The Champions offers golf course homes ranging from 2,055 to 4,210 square feet; they are priced from the high $300,000s.

KB Home has only the model homes available at its Montrose community. They range from 1,564 to 2,972 square feet and are priced from the mid-$100,000s. They also have a limited amount of golf course homes in the Rhodes Ranch Diamond Collection. The houses range from 2,531 to 3,760 square feet and are priced in the $400,000s.

All sales centers are open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.

Rhodes Ranch is located just south of the intersection of Durango Drive and Interstate 215.
