Sun City Aliante's views, activities impress buyer

Impressed by the mountains near Sun City Aliante, Ed Gallegos decided to enjoy them every day by purchasing a new home in the Del Webb community.

"Now I watch gorgeous sunsets every night from my back yard. I can see Mount Charleston and the Sheep mountains to the north," he said.

After running an insurance business in Bremerton, Wash., for 32 years, Gallegos sought a climate where he could pursue his favorite hobby: walking.

"I enjoy backpacking and hiking. I travel every chance I get. I've been all over the world -- to every continent except Antarctica at least once," Gallegos said.

Frequently, his travels are linked to his volunteer work for Habitat for Humanity, which builds houses.

"All you need is a strong back, willing mind and compassion for people who need a home," he said.

His own home is a 1,920-square-foot Helena design, which has two bedrooms, two baths, a den and optional covered patio.

Gallegos said he is starting a morning walking group and helping organize a bocce club. He also plans to participate in a neighborhood poker club.

"I like this lifestyle. All the residents are very friendly and easy to meet," he said.

The move brings Gallegos closer to his son, Mark, who lives in Las Vegas.

Sun City Aliante, the age-qualified component of the Aliante master-planned community, is being built around an 18-hole municipal golf course. Amenities will include a recreation center with tennis and bocce courts, a swimming pool, fitness center, and club and hobby rooms.

Prices range from the high $160,000s to the $250,000s.

To visit, take U.S. Highway 95 to Centennial Parkway, exit east to Sky Pointe Drive and turn right. Turn right at Frontage Road, then left onto Interstate 215. Exit at Aliante Parkway and go north. The sales office is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
