Bowlers hit strike at Solera
Charissa Moskus and John Mason are looking toward their future and recently purchased a home at Del Webb's age-qualified Solera at Anthem community in Henderson. "We decided to start now for retirement planning. Las Vegas is a fun place to be, so we looked around and liked what we saw at Solera at Anthem," Moskus said. Avid bowlers, Moskus and Mason, who work at Southern California colleges, often travel to Las Vegas for tournaments. The two are members of several bowling organizations. They even met in a bowling alley and have matching balls. Mason said he is looking forward to using the community's fitness center, particularly its cardiovascular and weight-training equipment. Additional amenities will include a swimming pool, club and hobby rooms, billiard tables, tennis and bocce courts, and computer and craft rooms. The Revere at Anthem Golf Club is close by and features the Lexington, a 7,143-yard, par-72, 18-hole championship golf course, and the Concord, a 7,050-yard course. The two chose a Lewis model, a 1,140-square-foot design with two bedrooms, two baths and a great room. "This floor plan is nice and our new home is in a great neighborhood," Moskus said. Homes include a variety of features such as prewiring for ceiling fans, telephone and cable connections in every room, Corian counter tops and raised-panel cabinets. Garage door openers are also standard. "Solera does offer a lot of value," Moskus said. "We looked at other homes and these are a good value. We feel lucky to buy a home at the beginning of a new community." Ironically, Moskus, a native of Hawaii, worked at a Del Webb resort in Kuilima, Oahu, 30 years ago. Homes are priced from the high $170,000s to the mid-$220,000s. To visit, take Eastern Avenue south to Anthem Parkway, turn left and proceed to Somersworth Drive. The sales office and models are open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
