San Franciscans move to Aliante

Former San Franciscans Jennifer and Adam Bruce searched for a Southern Nevada home, and after purchasing one at Aliante in North Las Vegas, they realized they hadn't left their hearts near the Golden Gate.

"The lifestyle we found at Aliante was comparable to some of the most expensive communities we visited," Jennifer Bruce said. "This is a great place to live, with the golf course, parks, walking trails and so many other amenities already in place.

"Our hope is to start a family and a business here, and to really put down roots in this community."

The couple purchased a Milano design in the Ravenna neighborhood by Meritage Homes. The two-story residence features four bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths. At 1,785 square feet, it also offers an optional loft, a master-suite retreat or bonus room.

"The open design was attractive to us," Bruce said. "We enjoy entertaining, and finding a home that could comfortably accommodate guests was very important to us. We also appreciated the larger home sites at Ravenna, which will provide plenty of space for outdoor entertaining."

Encompassing 1,905 acres, Aliante comprises all-ages and age-qualified villages. It will have about 7,500 homes.

Aside from Meritage, builders in the all-ages village are Astoria Homes, Del Webb Corp., D.R. Horton, KB Home, Lennar, Pardee Homes, Pulte Homes and US Home. Del Webb also is developing the age-qualified Sun City Aliante.

Homes are priced from the $170,000s to the $700,000s.

Nearly one-fourth of the acreage is designated for recreational and public purposes.

Plans call for three schools and about 100 acres of commercial development including retail and business centers, as well as a 40-acre resort with gaming.

Aliante is a master-planned development of North Valley Enterprises, an affiliate of American Nevada Co. and Del Webb. An information center is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

To visit, take U.S. Highway 95 to the Interstate 215 east exit. Proceed to the Aliante Parkway exit then go south.
