Pet adoption successful at Aliante
The second annual "Ice Cream Sunday and Pet Adoption" at Aliante drew many people to the community in North Las Vegas last weekend. Held at Nature Discovery Park, the event had visitors helping themselves to free ice cream, while children enjoyed various activities. The event helped find homes for animals housed at the Lied Animal Shelter. Kimiko Peterson, community marketing manager, said that out of 27 animals brought to the event, 26 were adopted. "The turnout was far beyond anyone's expectations, and it helped raise public awareness of the important work Lied Animal Shelter is doing in Southern Nevada," she said. North Valley Enterprises, Aliante's developer and an affiliate of American Nevada Co. and Del Webb, co-sponsored the event. A community information center is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. To visit, take U.S. Highway 95 to the Interstate 215 east exit. Proceed to the Aliante Parkway exit then go south.
