Sun City Anthem residents stay fit
Del Webb Corp.'s Sun City Anthem in Henderson features Anthem Center. The age-qualified community's 75,000-square-foot facility includes an outdoor zero-entry swimming pool with a spa and lounging area; eight lighted tennis courts; seven boccie courts; two horseshoe pits; a playground for visiting grandchildren; and a walking trail around the building's perimeter. It also offers treadmills, recumbent bikes, cross trainer and strength-training machines, cable crossovers, and free weights. "Sun City's Anthem Center offers state-of-the-art fitness, hobby and craft facilities and plenty of space for social activities," activities director Carla Pearson-Call said. "We try to anticipate every conceivable desire for the people of Sun City Anthem." Nick Goralsky, a retired executive who moved to Las Vegas to pursue a lifelong desire to be a casino dealer, likes to play tennis twice a week at the center. Meanwhile, his wife, Mary Ellen, who works at the University of Nevada Reno Medical Center, enjoys taking yoga classes and using the center's indoor walking track that is located above its six-lane indoor pool. "It has the best panoramic view of the valley with spectacular views of the Spring Mountains, Las Vegas Strip and The Revere golf course," she said. The three-year residents were attracted to the community at first sight. "When we drove up the hill and saw the fantastic view of the valley, I knew this is where I wanted to be," she said. The couple bought the Liberty model. "It's a spacious single-story," Nick Goralsky said. "Even when the grandchildren are visiting, there's still plenty of space to move around." Seventeen models are featured at the community, measuring from 1,080 to 3,009 square feet and more through the Gold Key program. Homes are priced from the high $130,000s to more than $500,000. To visit, take Eastern Avenue south, two miles past St. Rose Parkway. Models are open daily from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
