Southwest Engineering hosts charity auction

Southwest Engineering is planning a charity dinner and auction to benefit Child Haven on Oct. 6 at the Bellagio.

Proceeds from "Through the Eyes of a Child" event will be used to build a playground on the Child Haven campus for abused, abandoned and neglected children.

"Our goal is to be able to present Child Haven with a check for $50,000," company representative Flora Jackson said. "It will not cover the total cost of the playground (estimated at $100,000), but it's a start."

Since partnering with Child Haven two years ago, the company has organized egg hunts and barbecues for the children.
