West Park subdivision 'pleases' home buyer Meritage opens condos

Meritage Homes has opened its first condominium community, Watermarke, at Mountain's Edge, a master-planned community in the southwestern Las Vegas Valley.

Ruth Ochoa, vice president of sales for Meritage Homes, Las Vegas Division, said the home builder began selling homes in the planned subdivision a month ago. Models will open in late 2006.

A clubhouse will anchor the gated community, with fitness center, entertainment and billiards room. Outside there will be a fireplace, barbecue area and pool and spa area with a shade canopy.

"A landscaped paseo and beautiful common areas will add to the allure of the intimate 190-unit condominium community we're developing," Ochoa said.

The home builder is borrowing several architectural and community features from its single-family home neighborhoods to create Watermarke, according to Ochoa.

Watermarke offers four floor plans, ranging from 1,085 to 1,549 square feet, priced from the mid-$200,000s. The units offer as many as three bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths. Buyers can choose from single-level or two-story homes. Every plan is designed to house a two-car, direct-access garage. Great rooms and traditional layouts are offered. Decks, patios, walk-in closets, kitchen pantries, linen closets and fireplaces with media niches are among the highlights, for some floor plans.

Granite countertops, raised-panel interior doors and recessed lights are included. Safety and energy-efficient features include programmable thermostats, soft-water loops and security system pre-wiring. Buyers receive an upgraded appliance package, including a washer, dryer, refrigerator, gas range, dishwasher and heavy-duty garbage disposal.
