Sun City Anthem's camaraderie inspires purchase

Del Webb's lifestyle and home designs prompted Marvin Miller, a former vice president of business development for a construction firm, and his wife, Jessie Walsh, a civil court judge, to purchase a new home at Sun City Anthem.

"We had sponsored several events during Jessie's election cycle and through those we became familiar with the community," Miller said. "We were totally impressed with the genuine nature of the people who live here. They are all friendly. It gave us a great overview of Sun City Anthem's lifestyle."

Now retired, Miller was in the commercial construction industry and his company built The Revere at Anthem Clubhouse, a 23,149-square-foot facility with a golf shop, three banquet rooms, a subterranean 165-golf-cart storage area, and casual restaurant and sports bar.

Miller also cited the community itself as a reason for moving to Anthem, Del Webb's 5,000-acre master-planned community in Henderson.

"There is a great sense of tranquility to this community," Miller said. "The lifestyle offered here was definitely an attraction. Less than four days after moving in, we met our neighbors and were made to feel welcomed. There's a great sense of community we have never experienced before; a homogeneous spirit among the residents with a common appreciation of what we were getting. It's very powerful and truly an enriching experience."

They purchased the Mayflower model with an expanded casita.

"It was a great buy, and we are planning to use the casita as guest quarters," Miller said. "We converted one of the bedrooms into a law library, so the casita provides privacy for our guests."

Amenities at the community include Anthem Center, site of fitness, social and recreational opportunities for residents as well as Trumpets Restaurant and Lounge, which is open to the public.

Twelve designs ranging from 1,496 to 3,175 square feet are available. Homes are priced from the low $200,000s to more than $500,000.

To visit, take Eastern Avenue south, two miles past St. Rose Parkway, turn left on Anthem Parkway and then turn right on Alexandria Drive. Models are open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
