Solera's activities attract Californians
The variety of activities offered at Del Webb's Solera at Anthem, as well as those throughout the valley, prompted Romeo and Edith Nolasco to purchase a home at the age-qualified community in Henderson. "We decided to come to Nevada for a lot of reasons, especially because it's a fun place to be," Edith Nolasco said. "It's exciting here; there is a lot of action, good shopping, restaurants and good shows." The two, natives of the Philippines, plan to retire soon from their jobs in the information technology industry and move from their home in Fremont, Calif. Among the amenities that attracted the Nolascos to the community were its proximity to golf courses and social activities. "We were familiar with Del Webb communities because we have been attending our high school reunions here for many years," Romeo Nolasco said. "We appreciate the social atmosphere of an active-adult community." A recreation center will offer a fitness center, swimming pool, club and hobby rooms, billiard tables, tennis and bocce courts, and computer and craft rooms, as well as the opportunity for the Nolascos to enjoy one of their favorite activities, ballroom dancing. They purchased the Franklin model, a 1,771-square-foot design that features three bedrooms, two baths, a great room and dining room. With three grown children and three grandchildren, they said they wanted to downsize, but needed "the third bedroom for family to visit," she said. Homes within the community have energy-saving features such as integrated wiring, low-e windows, cocoon insulation system, and heating and cooling sealants that exceed Energy Star requirements. Four floor plans ranging from 1,140 to 1,771 square feet are available. Homes are priced from the high $170,000s to the mid-$220,000s. To visit, take Eastern Avenue south to Anthem Parkway, turn left and proceed to Somersworth Drive. Hours are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
