Exec reports sales at Promontory
Lots in the Promontory custom-home neighborhood, part of The Ridges village in Summerlin, are proving to be in high demand, according to executives of The Howard Hughes Corp., developer of Summerlin. Out of 38 lots released for sales thus far, 17 remain. Much of the reason for the neighborhood's popularity is the Bear's Best Las Vegas golf course, according to Stew Gibbons, executive vice president of Hughes Corp. "The Ridges will be home to Bear's Best Las Vegas, a golf course featuring the greatest holes ever designed by Jack Nicklaus," Gibbons said. "Fifteen holes have already been completed, and each one is visually stunning." A joint venture between Golden Bear International and ClubCorp of America, the course is the first of several like it to be built throughout the United States. Each course will consist of 18 replicas of select holes designed by golfer Jack Nicklaus. Custom homes will line the course, which is near the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. "The Ridges offers views that look deep into Red Rock Canyon, as well as elevated views of the Las Vegas Strip and rest of the Las Vegas Valley," Gibbons said. "Add to that Bear's Best Las Vegas and you've got an atmosphere unlike any other." The 752-acre, guard-gated village is located on the west end of Desert Inn Road. Six custom-home enclaves and 10 neighborhoods are planned. Common areas will include a private, 8.3-acre park; outdoor lighted tennis courts; and Club Ridges, a clubhouse with a swimming pool, lap pool and fitness center. The Promontory neighborhood offers custom lots measuring from one-third of an acre. Prices start from the low $300,000s to nearly $1 million. Topaz Ridge, a William Lyon Homes neighborhood, is also under development. It features homes ranging from 3,620 to 4,182 square feet and priced from the high $400,000s. Situated in the western valley, Summerlin is unfolding in villages, each with a major park or golf course. In addition to Bear's Best, the community is home to seven other golf courses, including two Tournament Players Club courses. It is also home to nearly 100 village and neighborhood parks, more than 90 miles of trails, 17 schools, houses of worship, shopping centers, business parks, medical centers, and nearly 130 model homes. Houses, townhomes and condominiums are priced from less than $100,000 to more than $700,000. Custom lots measuring from one-quarter acre to three-quarters of an acre are priced from the mid-$100,000s to more than $1 million. Predesigned custom homes are priced from $500,000 to more than $1 million. Apartments offer monthly rents starting from the $700s. To visit the home finding center, take Sahara Avenue west, past Hualapai Way to Town Center Drive. Or, take Interstate 215 to Sahara. The center is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
