Cloud Carpet owner takes pride in customer service

Roy Shelton, co-owner of Cloud Carpet in Las Vegas, has spent his entire adult working life in the floor covering business.

"We listen to our customers and get input from them as to what their needs are," Shelton said. "It's important to find the right product from the right manufacturer and coordinate with the installers as to what the customer expects. When communication breaks down, that can lead to an unhappy customer, something we try to avoid at all costs at Cloud Carpet. That's why communication is so important."

Shelton credits his employees for his company's success.

"We have people that have been in the floor covering business for the greater part of their career. You won't find many of these floor-covering consultants moving from one industry to the other. Our people are floor covering specialists," he said.

"We have a talented, hard working group from our sales team to our installers to our office personal. We only do business with manufacturers that are the best in the business. When you add our focus to innovation, it's easy to see why new home buyers come to us first."

The company has been a carpet dealer in Las Vegas since 1962. They have four locations in Southern Nevada, with its 50,000-square-foot flagship store on Industrial Road near Tropicana Avenue. This store houses a design center featuring tile for the floor, wall and bath.

Also featured are hard flooring and a variety of soft floor coverings, including custom-dyed, woven carpets, and Oriental or other exotic carpets.

Among the brands offered are Wear Dated, Stainmaster by Dupont, Anso by Allied Signal, Mohawk, Lees, Karastan plus vinyl flooring by Mannington, Armstrong and Congoleum.

Last year, the store began offering hot tubs from Dimension One Spas.

"We added hot tubs because when new home buyers come to shop for flooring, it's a natural to get a spa as well," Shelton said, adding that his company plans to begin offering pools by late next spring.

Cloud Carpet also has stores at 800 N. Rainbow Blvd., 334 Water St. in Henderson, and in Mesquite.

The company's other owners are Gayle Shelton and Grant Selle.
