Summerlin center takes shape
The first phase of Summit Centre, the 14-acre parcel at Village Center Circle and Trailwood Drive in The Trails village, is helping Summerlin take shape, according to the developer. The phase includes 12,000 square feet of retail space and a 46,000-square-foot 24 Hour Fitness Super-Sport, which is under construction. Already open is Fabulous Freddy's, a gas station, convenience store and car wash. Developed by Apple Investments, the facility also offers lube and smog services. According to Bart Pebbles of Caliber Retail Properties Group, center developer, office suites ranging from 1,000 to 6,000 square feet are available. A second phase will include four office buildings ranging from 7,000 to 16,000 square feet and two fast-food restaurant pads. "This area was Summerlin's first major gathering spot and it continues to expand with a growing list of stores and services," said Dan Van Epp, president of The Howard Hughes Corp. "There is considerable enthusiasm and excitement among residents for new restaurants, services and especially the fitness center." Developed by 24 Hour Fitness USA, the fitness center is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2003. The Northern Village Center is the first center adjacent to the Summerlin Library and Performing Arts Center, Trails Village shopping center, Hills Center Business Park and the Summerlin Post Office. Summerlin is home to eight golf courses, nearly 100 parks, nearly 100 miles of trails, 16 schools, houses of worship, shopping centers, medical facilities, cultural facilities, business parks, and nearly 100 model homes. Homes are priced from the mid-$100,000s to more than $700,000. Custom lots ranging from one-half acre to three-quarters of an acre are priced from the high $300,000s to more than $1 million. Custom homes are priced from $1.5 million. Apartments offer monthly rents starting from the high $700s. To visit the home finding center, travel west on Sahara Avenue, past Hualapai Way, to Town Center Drive. Or, take Interstate 215 to Sahara Avenue. The center is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
