Pardee's 50-hour home will be team effort

A team of nearly 40 subcontractors and vendors have pledged its support to help Pardee Homes build a two-story, 2,046-square-foot house in just 50 hours.

"We couldn't build this house without the support of several subcontractors and vendors, many of whom are making generous donations of labor and materials to the project," said Don Feathers, assistant vice president of construction for Pardee Homes of Nevada. "The great working relationship we have with subcontractors and vendors has been key to Pardee's success in Southern Nevada for the past 50 years and will be key to the construction of the 50-Hour House."

The home, located in the Talavera neighborhood of the Eldorado community in North Las Vegas, will be built from Sept. 30 through Oct. 4. The public is invited to view the progress each day.

Among the businesses participating is Bronco Construction Co., whose team of nearly 50 workers will be involved in framing the house in about six hours on the first day.

"Many of the subcontractors and vendors involved in the 50-Hour House have already been preparing and practicing to make it all come together in an efficient and professional manner that is on par with Pardee's rigorous quality and safety guidelines," Feathers said.

The Clark County Public Education Foundation will benefit from the project as Pardee will donate 50 $1,000 scholarships to local students wanting to attend the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

"Thanks to generous donations of time and materials from our friends in the construction industry, we are able to join with them in helping our community," he said.

The home, Talavera Plan 3A, is a two-story design with four bedrooms, three baths and a two-car garage measuring 2,046 square feet. A similar plan can be seen in the Eldorado Highlands model park.

Construction will take place during five 10-hour days. A city of North Las Vegas building inspector will be on-hand at all times.

The home will be built to the Environmental Protection Agency's Energy Star guidelines, which certifies that a house is at least 30 percent more energy efficient than standard homes.

More than $50,000 worth of options will be included in the home, priced at about $165,000. Interested buyers may visit the sales office to pre-qualify and be entered for a chance to buy the home.

The community's model park also features eight models for the Fontana and Mandevilla neighborhoods.

The community includes two parks, a fire station and an elementary school.

To visit, take Craig Road to Camino al Norte and then head north.

The sales center and models are open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily except Monday, when they open at 11 a.m.
