Aliante welcomes concert-goers
More than 1,000 jazz lovers enjoyed last weekend's free concert at Nature Discovery Park in the Aliante master-planned community in North Las Vegas. Artists April Spain, a Las Vegas-based keyboardist/vocalist, and Zenbop, a Los Angeles-based ensemble led by noted jazz guitarist Troy Reigleman, were the performers for the first major outdoor event at the new community. Dan Naef, senior vice president of North Valley Enterprises, the developer of Aliante, said nearly 200 families have moved into their homes within the community. "As Aliante continues to grow, so does the community spirit that contributes so much to the success of an event like this," Naef said. "It is very gratifying to see our first homeowners getting to know each other and having such a wonderful time in their new community." The event was sponsored by North Valley Enterprises, an affiliate of American Nevada Co. and Del Webb Corp., as well as the city of North Las Vegas. Encompassing 1,905 acres, the community consists of all-ages and age-qualified villages. Combined, they will offer as many as 7,500 homes. About 428 acres of the community is designated for recreational and public purposes including an 18-hole municipal golf course, three city parks, more than 20 miles of trails and linear parks, and an arroyo. Builders are D.R. Horton, KB Home, Pardee Homes and Pulte Homes. Homes are priced from the $120,000s to the $370,000s. In addition, Del Webb is building the age-qualified Sun City Aliante, where homes are priced from the $160,000s to the $250,000s. Plans for the community include two elementary schools and a middle school. A site has been selected for a fire station, which recently held a groundbreaking ceremony, and about 100 acres are allocated for commercial development, including a 40-acre resort with gaming. A community information center located at the southeast corner of Interstate 215 and Aliante Parkway is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. To visit, take U.S. Highway 95 to Centennial Parkway, exit east to Sky Pointe Drive and turn right. Turn right at Frontage Road, then left onto Interstate 215. Exit at Aliante Parkway and go south to the primary village or north to Sun City.
