New-home possibilities: Toll Bros.' models serve many purposesSPECIAL TO REAL ESTATE
A model home not only showcases a builder's quality and designs, it also sets the tone for an entire neighborhood and gives buyers a variety of decorating ideas, according to Gary Mayo, a Toll Bros.' executive. "Models help buyers envision what living in a particular home would be like," he said. "You get the lived-in image while also seeing the possibilities of a particular floor plan, from where seating areas should be to maximize views to how natural lighting brightens a particular bedroom." The builder's models often showcase some of the most requested upgrades. "We'll include features such as optional fireplaces, cabinets, wet bars and French doors along with upgraded flooring and counter tops," he said. "The kitchen appliances in our models are also typically higher end, since that's where families spend the majority of their time. "We've also done things with our models that people normally wouldn't think of. The models give them ideas. For example, we've converted a den at one model into a meditation room. There are candles, bamboo-like flooring, a massage table and understated bookshelves which all help create a quiet place to relax and unwind." In other models, he said, the builder has designed kid-sized baths where fixtures ranging from the toilet to the counter top are lowered for easy access. Another home's back yard takes on an Old West feel with a mining cart that sits on a track adjacent to a pool. Other models have baths enhanced by features such as fireplaces, negative-edge and spa tubs, and dual shower heads. Some secondary bedrooms are decorated with kids in mind, and display distinctive murals and fun themes. Home offices feature sophisticated materials and furnishings for a professional look. Models are open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at two neighborhoods. To reach Barrington, which is in Summerlin, take Interstate 215 to Far Hills Avenue, go west to Carriage Hill Drive, turn south and proceed to Vista Run Drive. Turn right and proceed to Roma Nord Place. Toscana is located at the intersection of Farm Road and Tenaya Way in the northwestern valley.
