Turnberry Place begins construction on third tower

Paradise Road buzzed with activity overnight when more than 150 trucks arrived at Turnberry Place, a high-rise condominium development just east of the Strip, to pour the concrete foundation of its third 40-story tower.

More than 8,000 cubic yards of concrete were poured for the tower. That's enough concrete to pave a 31-mile city sidewalk.

The community will use more than 200,000 cubic yards of concrete by the time the project is complete, according to Robert Albano, vice president for subcontractor Rinker Materials.

About 500 construction workers were on site for the project, which resulted in 1,500 cubic yards of concrete being poured per hour.

The third tower will take about 18 months to build. Sales for the tower are under way with more than 60 percent of units sold. The first two towers are complete, and the community is more than a year ahead of its projected construction schedule. The entire $650 million development will be complete in 2005 and include four 40-story towers.

At the center of the site is The Stirling Club, an 80,000-square-foot private club offering residents and members luxury amenities. The club showcases valet and concierge services, and offers casual and formal dining. A club within the club, called the Twenty Eight Club, offers private functions and winemaker's dinners. Three world-class chefs are on staff.

The club also houses the Caudalie Vinotherapie Spa, a 30,000-square-foot facility that uses grape-seed extract in its skin care products. Also in the club are a lounge with a piano bar, nightclub, billiards room, wine and cigar room, business center, and library. It also includes a beauty salon, spas, saunas and steam baths, a Pilates studio, lap pool, plunge pools, a fitness center, and an outdoor mosaic pool with a pool bar.

All residents are club members.

Ten floor plans range from 1,550 to 8,000 square feet.

Residences are priced from $500,000 to more than $5.25 million.

The homes include marble spa tubs, granite-topped kitchen cabinetry, Sub-Zero and Gagganau appliances, and private glass balconies.

The entry gate to the development is staffed 24 hours by personnel who check in residents and guests. In addition, each residence is equipped with a security system. Elevators require key cards to take residents to their private lobby.

Sales pavilion visitors can tour a 2,825-square-foot model residence. The office, located at 2777 Paradise Road, is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
