Las Ventanas launches cruise, trip promotions

Las Ventanas, a nonprofit life-care community in Summerlin, is offering a Caribbean cruise and European tour as part of an incentive and referral program.

The drawing for the seven-day Caribbean cruise is limited to the next 40 future residents. To be eligible, seniors must place a 10 percent deposit for a residence at the community.

The winner will received a cruise for two starting in New Orleans and visiting the Grand Cayman, and Progreso and Cozumel, Mexico. The package includes round-trip airfare, accommodations, and shore visits.

The drawing for a 17-day European tour is offered to those who have already made residency deposits and refer someone else to the facility. The tour will include visits to London, Venice, Paris and Rome.

Current depositors will receive one entry into the drawing for each referral. Two additional entries will be given if a tour of the community's information center is scheduled with their referral, while four additional entries will be given if their referral places a 10 percent reservation deposit.

The community, which will begin construction in September, offers additional incentives for charter residents including a guaranteed 7 percent interest on reservation deposits; 90 percent refundability of the entrance fee to the resident or their estate at any time; fixed monthly fees until Jan. 1, 2005, and guaranteed occupancy regardless of health at move-in.

Las Ventanas is being developed by Greystone Communities, Westport Senior Living and American Baptist Homes of the West.

"The combined financial strength of Westport, development and management experience of Greystone, and the not-for-profit expertise of ABHOW will result in Las Ventanas being the only life-care community of choice in Las Vegas offering unsurpassed resident services, the best location and the highest quality care," marketing director Suzanne Caldarello said.

Located on 17 acres at Charleston Boulevard and Town Center Drive, the community offers independent living and social activities. When needed, residents will have access to assisted-living accommodations and skilled nursing care with private suites.

The homes will include washers and dryers, an emergency call system, security, storage areas, and paid utilities, except telephone. Also included are meals, weekly housekeeping and linen service, basic cable television, health and wellness programs, and concierge services.

"As a multi-generational community, Summerlin is pleased to encompass a variety of lifestyle options for seniors ranging from totally independent living to the highest level of care," said Dan Van Epp, president The Howard Hughes Corp.

An information center located in Hughes Plaza, 10000 W. Charleston Blvd., is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday or by appointment.

ABHOW, a nonprofit corporation located in Pleasanton, Calif., owns and operates retirement communities throughout the United States, with an emphasis on the West.

Dallas-based Greystone Communities has provided development and management services for more than 60 senior and life care communities as well as consulting services to more than 300 additional senior living communities.

Westport Senior Living invests in the development and acquisition of continuing care retirement communities throughout the United States.
