Summerlin residents enjoy pools
Summer brings a heated increase in activities at Summerlin's three community pools, located in The Arbors, The Trails and The Willows villages. Situated in the The Arbors village is the Veterans Memorial Olympic Swimming Pool, which features 25-meter laps crosswise, and 100-meter laps lengthwise to accommodate swimmers of all skill levels and age groups. The pool ranges from 3 to 12 feet in depth, and has two diving boards, a shallow play area and handicap access. The pool at The Willows village is designed as a resort-style play pool and features a beach-style entrance. The pool's water slide and spray fountain are considered ideal for children. The Trails Pool, which opened in 1996, features six lap lanes, a dive tank and separate wading pool. In 2002, the pool was resurfaced and retiled. Numerous classes and activities are coordinated at the pools by The Summerlin Council, the nonprofit branch of Summerlin Community Association dedicated to the social, recreational, cultural and educational enrichment of residents. Developed by The Howard Hughes Corp., Summerlin is home to parks, trails, houses of worship, retail and business centers, medical facilities and cultural facilities. Nearly 120 models showcase the available single-family homes, townhomes and condominiums, which are priced from the mid-$300,000s. Custom-home sites are priced from the $500,000s.
